Why Enrol Onto the IMP?

If you are a qualified early years practitioner or a qualified teacher wishing to add Montessori professional specialism to your practice, this could be the right course for you.

Little Gems Training Centre (LGTC) is delighted to bring Montessori Centre International’s (MCI) course to you in response to popular demand from schools within the Montessori community. Study flexibly at your own pace with support from a dedicated tutor from LGTC and meet us in person at our Apparatus Workshop.

Who can apply?

The IMP course is designed to meet adults of all interests and is particularly valuable to Early Years Educators seeking to broaden their understanding of childhood education or wanting to understand the Montessori curriculum and approach.

The Apparatus Workshop is ideal for Montessori students and for Montessorians that need a booster to refresh their knowledge of the use and purposes of the materials, extensions and ideas. The workshop is also beneficial to teachers, early years educators and parents that wish to understand and learn about the Montessori curriculum and approach.

Blended Learning

The international nature of Montessori education is reflected in MCI’s student body that has been studying with MCI worldwide. In liaison with MCI, LGTC will deliver the successfully developed blended learning approach which combines face-to-face and online learning using the innovative Virtual Learning Environment which enables learners to communicate, reflect and collaborate, establishing a vibrant international community of Montessori learners.Your online study will guide you through the Montessori philosophy and Montessori curriculum areas of learning to achieve a professional specialism in Montessori. You’ll also complete the apparatus workshop where you gain hands on experience with the Montessori materials. LGTC hold 2 workshops per academic one in spring and one in the summer. On successful completion of the final practical assessment at the apparatus workshop and all five assignments, students will be awarded MCI Certificate.

Your online study will guide you through the Montessori philosophy and Montessori curriculum areas of learning to achieve a professional specialism in Montessori. You’ll also complete the 88-hour apparatus workshop where you gain hands on experience with the Montessori materials. LGTC hold 2 workshops per academic year – one in the spring and one in the summer.

The Integrating Montessori Practice course is a self-regulated qualification awarded by Montessori Centre International.  Qualified practitioners with the IMP are considered Montessori qualified staff for the purpose of the Montessori Accreditation.

Timeline & Assessment

There are 5 diverse assignments including a quiz, an essay, a lesson plan, short answers and a final reflection on your practice. On successful completion of the final practical assessment at the apparatus workshop and all five assignments, students will be awarded a MCI Certificate 

All students access course materials online through our Virtual Learning Environment. You will be supported by a dedicated tutor via email or online video calling. At the workshop you will be guided by Montessori specialist trainers.

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Be aged 18 or over

  • Have a full and relevant early years qualification, that is, and Early Years Diploma, BA early years, PGCE, or Qualified Teacher Status

  • If English is not your first language you should be able to demonstrate competency either through an interview or at level B2 of the common European Framework (CEF) proficiency levels (https://www.examenglish.com/CEFR/cefr.php).
